30 Hour Adult Learner Course
30 Hour Course - Satisfies Texas Massage Instructor Licensing Requirement
This course is designed for Massage Therapists who aspire to take their career to the next level and begin teaching their craft as a Massage Therapy Instructor as well as Massage Therapy Instructors who wish to improve upon their teaching skills. During this 30-hour Adult Learner course you will fulfill the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) requirement for completing an acceptable Adult Learners Course before submitting an application to become a Massage Therapy Instructor.
In addition you will learn the ethos of teaching adult learners (andragogy), how to effectively teach adult learners, develop lesson plans, classroom mechanics, learner types, teaching strategies and best practices to better prepare you for the classroom environment.
This course is split into 3 sections:
1. Andragogy – Ethos of Teaching Adult Learners
2. Proper Preparation for Classroom Success
3. Best Practices for Creating an Optimal Learning Environment
The primary focus of this course is discussing the overall process of becoming a Massage Therapy Instructor, Andragogy – Ethos of Adult Learners, understanding learner types, teaching strategies and creating an optimal environment for adult learners to be successful.
The course is made up of coursework, PowerPoint slides, course check ins, video presentations and a final assessment.
This is a 30-hour, self-paced course. You will have exactly 30 days to complete the entire course from the date of enrollment. You must successfully pass the final assessment with a 70% or higher. The assessment is comprised of multiple choice and true/false questions.
Upon successful completion of this course you will be issued a completion certificate for your records. If you aspire to get licensed in the state of Texas as a Massage Instructor you will need this certificate to submit as part of your application to TDLR.

Ashlyn K. Pickett founded DFW Bodywork Education with the commitment to bring quality continuing education to Massage Therapists in the field. Ashlyn is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a BS in Exercise Science. She attended the Utah College of Massage Therapy in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ashlyn has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 2008, a licensed Massage Therapy Instructor since 2012 and is also a Continuing Education Provider.
As a therapist and an educator, Ashlyn specializes in Structural/Clinical Bodywork, Manual Therapy, Myofacial bodywork, Sports Massage, Assessment as well as applied and functional anatomy and pathology.
